Eco Council

Welcome to our Eco-Council page. Mr Titterington runs the Eco Committee with the help of two children from each class. Children are elected by their class to be on the council. We aim to have one full meeting each half term with smaller working meetings more frequently.

At the beginning of each year, the Eco Committee members discuss and create a set of responsibilites for their role. These usually include tasks like ensuring paper is recycled, turning off lights and collecting litter. We also carry out environmental reviews of our school and set targets for the following year. Last year, our targets have were:

  • Saving energy
  • Efficient paper recycling
  • Plastic Problem

Saving energy

Children have made posters to encourage people to switch off lights and save energy.  We have made spot checks round school to see if people are heeding the message.

Efficient Paper Recycling

Each class has their own paper bin. We have made posters to ensure that each class knows what can and can't be recycled in the paper bin. The committee members are responsible for checking the bins and emptying them.

Plastic Problem

Last academic year, our goal was to put a system in place to ensure we can recycle plastic in school. Due to Covid-19, we weren't able to put this into place but will take this goal forward to next year.

Your Eco Ideas

Do you have any good ideas for making our school more eco friendly?  Can you think of ways we can save water, reduce waste, consider global perspectives or be healthier?  Please share your ideas with your Eco Committee member.
