Meet The Governors

Mr T Edwards (Chair) - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

I have been a Foundation Governor at St Paul’s since 2009 and have recently been elected as Chair but I have a long association with the school; my father and son were both pupils as I was.  I retired in 2014 after almost 40 years in the NHS as a Radiographer where I held a variety of roles eventually in a managerial position and student training was an integral part of the job throughout my career.  I am pleased and privileged to give my support to all the staff and pupils of St Paul’s School.

I now work for an Exam Board, where I am responsible for developing qualifications and I am also a Non-Executive Director for another exam board. My interest in assessment has led me to serve on the curriculum committee. I have a life-long interest in the school, having been a former student and I am passionate for the success of St Paul’s.  I aim to offer support and challenge so that all students can achieve their potential.

I was initially invited to become a governor as I am a chartered accountant and hence have skills of relevance to serve on the Finance and Personnel committee. I am also pleased to serve on the Curriculum and Standards committee where my background also assists in understanding the number of statistics produced to monitor the children’s progress.

I have always found St. Paul’s to be a lovely and caring environment for the children and I am proud to be involved with the school and offer my support to the Headteacher, staff and governing body to ensure the best for our children here.

Rev O O'Doherty - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

Mr R Scully - Parent Governor Elected By: Parents of St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School

I have been a parent governor for the last 12 months, during this time I have enjoyed my time in school. I am currently a Head of PE at a local secondary school. I applied for the role as a governor as I have a passion to metamorphosise the life chances of the children in the community I live. Throughout my time working in schools, I have gained an in-depth knowledge of schools and ways to develop children, I will use this knowledge to help support the school in their development of the children at St Pauls. I have a desire for PE and sport, I hope to bring support and knowledge to the school to help develop the pupils physical literacy during my time as a governor.

Mrs K Mee - Parent Governor Elected By: Parents of St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School

I joined St Pauls Governing Body in August 2018. I have worked within the education sector for the last 3 years, I currently work for The Department for Work and Pensions as a Support for Schools Adviser. It is within this role that I have gained a strong interest in the education sector and that led me to apply for the position of School Governor. My position for DWP involves creating working relationships with schools and employers to give young people the best start when leaving school and going on to further education or starting their careers.  My role also involves working closely with local communities to encourage the improvement of social mobility. I have a variety of experience working with children and young people with special educational and behavioural needs. It is the skills I have gained from these roles that I bring to the Governing board and in particular the Curriculum and Standards committee.  As a parent of 2 children attending St Pauls, I have an obvious interest in maintaining high educational standards both now and in the future for the school. I look forward to supporting the school in continuing to provide a nurturing, safe environment and ensuring our children get the best start to their educational journey.
