Year 4 Reach the Semi-Final!

Congratulations to the Year 4 football team who reached the semi-finals in the Tameside Schools FA football competition. The team got off to an excellent start in the first game by beating St. Raphael’s 3-0.

In the second game, they played just as well and you could see them growing as a team. They scored some excellent goals and defended incredibly well to win 3-0 against St. Peter’s.

Their last group game was against a strong St. John Fisher team. St. Paul’s had the majority of the ball and the best of the chances but could not break the dead lock so the game finished 0-0.

The team had played so well that they qualified for the semi-final as group winners. This was again a very close game, this time against St. Stephen’s Primary school. St. Paul’s played really well, but the St. Stephen’s defence stayed strong which meant that the game finished 0-0. Unfortunately, the team lost 2-1 on penalties and did not progress through to the final. 

Well done to the children who took part and thank you to everyone who helped with transport.
