Tameside Catholic Schools Swimming Champions!

On Friday night the swimming team took part in the 40th Annual TCSSA swimming gala at Denton swimming baths. The evening is always an exciting and competitive event and Friday was no exception. 

The gala got underway with the individual backstroke races. Taylor and Annabelle (Year 6) got the evening off to the perfect start by winning gold in their respective races!

Next up were Jamie (Year 6) and Caitlin (Year 5) who both swam incredibly well in two close breaststroke races; finishing 3^rd and 4^th.

Next off the blocks were Grace (Year 6) and Matthew (Year 5), this time for the individual freestyle races. Again, both swimmers swam brilliant races finishing 3^rd and 4^th.

Now was the time for the relay races and even though it was Friday 13^th, this was not going to be an unlucky night for St. Paul’s! First the boys; Harrison, Jamie, Taylor (Year 6) and Matthew (Year 5) won gold in the freestyle relay. Then the girls followed suit; Grace, Annabelle (Year 6), Caitlin and Scarlett (Year 5) won gold in theirs.

To show what a wonderful team St. Paul’s had, we then went on to win gold in the mixed medley relay and the mixed breaststroke relay!

The children swam with great skill and determination and deserved the title as ‘Overall Winners of 2015 TCSSA Swimming Gala.’ I would like to say a special thank you to all the parents, family and friends who came to support and cheer St. Paul’s on!
