St Paul's v St John's

Well done to the boy's football team who played against St. John's in the Heywood Cup On Thursday afternoon. The boys started well against a well organised team but unfortunately went 1-0 down early in the first half.

St. Paul's came back strong and equalised through a wonderful solo effort from George (Year 5). St. Paul's had a lot of the possession but couldn't make it count and conceded a second goal despite some excellent saves from Zack (Year 5) and a solid defensive display from Jon-Paul and match day captain Harry (both Year 6). 

The second half did not begin as planned; conceding a very well worked 3rd goal from St. John's. This ignited an excellent response from St. Paul's and passed the ball around confidently in midfield with Joe, Joel and Adam (All Year 6) linking up well! 

Against the run of play, St. John's scored there fourth goal but the boys remained positive and had a few good chances to get back in the game; even some speculative over head kicks from Danny (Year 5). We eventually got the break through with a goal from Joe (Year 6) but it was too late to spur a late come back.
