School Games Tag Rugby Heats

On Friday 17th October the Tag Rugby team took part in the School Games Tag Rugby Heats at Dukinfield Rugby Club. The children played four games against other Tameside schools.

The first game was against Ravensfield. Both teams were a little cautious throughout the game and didn’t attack the opposition too much so the game finished try-less and a point to each team.

Our next game against St. Raphael’s was much more attacking and end to end. However, even though we were scoring, we were also conceding and the game finished ‘all square’; we had our second draw of the heats.

We played St. John Fisher in the third game. St John Fisher had started the heats well with a couple of wins already under their belts but St. Paul’s were well organised and both teams were difficult to break down – our third draw but still undefeated!

The final game was against Dowson Primary School. St. Paul’s must have been saving their energy for their last game. Everything seemed to click into place during the game and with Joel (Year 6) scoring two excellent tries, St. Paul’s had their first victory!
