Governors

Meet The Governors

Mr T Edwards (Chair) - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

I have been a Foundation Governor at St Paul’s since 2009 and have recently been elected as Chair but I have a long association with the school; my father and son were both pupils as I was.  I retired in 2014 after almost 40 years in the NHS as a Radiographer where I held a variety of roles eventually in a managerial position and student training was an integral part of the job throughout my career.  I am pleased and privileged to give my support to all the staff and pupils of St Paul’s School.

I have been a Foundation Governor at St. Paul’s for the last 12 years, being a parishioner at St. Paul’s and my nieces and nephew have all attended the school.

I was initially invited to become a governor as I am a chartered accountant and hence have skills of relevance to serve on the Finance and Personnel committee. I am also pleased to serve on the Curriculum and Standards committee where my background also assists in understanding the number of statistics produced to monitor the children’s progress.

I have always found St. Paul’s to be a lovely and caring environment for the children and I am proud to be involved with the school and offer my support to the Headteacher, staff and governing body to ensure the best for our children here.

Miss P Standen - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

I am really pleased to be appointed a Foundation Governor here at St Paul’s school, where I was a past pupil. I have previously been involved for 17 years in another Catholic primary school as a Teaching Assistant and worked throughout all the Key Stages. My strengths were in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One. I also have a lot of experience working with children in the SEN sector. I resigned my post in 2015 to assist my dad in his engineering business.

I qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1997 achieving the NNEB Diploma. In 2011 I graduated with BA HONS in Education. I have recently in 2021 completed the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies as well as a beginner's Latin course.

Being appointed a Foundation Governor gives me an opportunity to support the Headteacher, Staff and children at St Paul’s and to promote the Gospel values and Catholic ethos of the school.
