Phonics

Date: 18th Nov 2016 @ 12:37pm

Thank you to all parents who were able to attend the Phonics Information Evening.

Phonics is a really important part of our learning in Year 1 and as such is taught in school every day. It underpins almost all of the reading and spelling learning we do in class. Any additional help you can give your child at home will really help to consolidate this learning. The Phonics Information in "files" is a government produced leaflet with some information about learning to read using Phonics as well as the Check which will take place in June.

In Phonics there are a few websites which we frequently use.

This one has super games to help practice reading (especially those silly alien made up words which appear on the Phonics Screening Check):

All the children adore Geraldine the Giraffe on:

There are also a number of apps available for apple and android devices.

In the meantime if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
