Poetry Homework

Date: 23rd Apr 2015 @ 7:07pm

This week, we have been reading a variety of poems -narrative, humorous, and classics.

For homework this week I have asked the pupils to learn one of the poems from the list 'off by heart'. We hope to share our poetry recitals throughout next week.

The best way of learning a poem is not to try and do it all at once. Little and often, line by line, is often the best approach. I want the children to challenge themselves and not simply pick the shortest or easiest poems.

Although some children will find this a challenge we are asking that they all try and learn at least one of the poems from the list above. They can, of course, learn more if they wish but they will only be asked to recite one of the poems
