Bees 🐝

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Nursery Year: 2018 - 2019

As part of our Minibeasts topic Ms Shenton invited some local Beekeepers into school, to help us learn all about how Bees make honey. They showed us their protective costumes and talked to Nursery about the roles of the Bees in the hive; the queen bee, the worker bee and the drone.  The Beekeepers told us how the Bees fly from flower to flower drinking the nectar, helping to make new plants grow as they do. The children asked lots of good questions, listened carefully and tasted some honey made by the local bees 🐝

Thank you to the ladies who gave their time voluntary, in return Nursery will be making a donation to the charity Bees Abroad, who work to relieve poverty through Beekeeping.
