World Faith at St. Paul's

In order to enrich pupils’ knowledge and understanding of world faiths, St. Paul’s will be celebrating three World Faith Weeks this year and in the coming years. Each class will focus on the same religion but split the religion in to four topics.

The children will then present what they have learnt in an assembly to the whole school. In order to ensure that we are rotating different world religions, Mr Allen has set out a coverage plan:

Autumn term’s focus was Judaism and the four topics were:

  1. Reception and Nursery: Beliefs, Customs and Traditions
  2. Year 1 and Year 2: Jewish People
  3. Year 3 and Year 4: Holy Days
  4. Year 5 and Year 6: History of the Jewish Faith

During the Autumn term we celebrated our first of three World Faith Weeks. During assembly at the end of the week, children from each year group taught the other year groups about what they had learnt. It was a great opportunity for the children to develop their understanding about other faiths and make links between Christianity and Judaism.

Spring term's focus is Islam and the four topics were:

  1. Arts and Culture
  2. Holy Days
  3. Prayer, Worship and Texts
  4. Practices
