Governors

Meet The Governors

Mr J Wallace (Chair) - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

When I retired in 2007, I was asked to become a foundation governor and I was elected Chair for the first time in 2010. I used to be a teacher myself. I taught at St Thomas More, Denton for ten years before moving to All Saints, Dukinfield in 1980 where I became Deputy Headteacher in 1986, a post I held for 21 years. A large number of parents were taught by me, as I am made aware whenever I visit the school! My oldest Grandson has just left St. Paul's to move onto high school. He was very happy and successful throughout his eight years in the school. Currently, two grandsons and a granddaughter are all pupils, so the school is very important to me at a personal level. I have a wide range of experience in the world of education and, now retired, I have the time to make myself available as required. I am proud to serve the  school as a member of a very talented and committed group of colleague governors. As a board, we appreciate the hard work of our staff and the support of our parents. We all want the very best for our children.

I have been a Foundation Governor at St. Paul’s for the last 5 years, being a parishioner at St. Paul’s and my nieces and nephew have all attended the school.

I was initially invited to become a governor as I am a chartered accountant and hence have skills of relevance to serve on the Finance and Personnel committee. I am also pleased to serve on the Curriculum and Standards committee where my background also assists in understanding the vast number of statistics produced to monitor the children’s progress.

Mrs K Mee - Parent Governor Elected By: Parents of St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School

I joined St Pauls Governing Body in August 2018. I have worked within the education sector for the last 3 years, I currently work for The Department for Work and Pensions as a Support for Schools Adviser. It is within this role that I have gained a strong interest in the education sector and that led me to apply for the position of School Governor. My position for DWP involves creating working relationships with schools and employers to give young people the best start when leaving school and going on to further education or starting their careers.  My role also involves working closely with local communities to encourage the improvement of social mobility. I have a variety of experience working with children and young people with special educational and behavioural needs. It is the skills I have gained from these roles that I bring to the Governing board and in particular the Curriculum and Standards committee.  As a parent of 2 children attending St Pauls, I have an obvious interest in maintaining high educational standards both now and in the future for the school. I look forward to supporting the school in continuing to provide a nurturing, safe environment and ensuring our children get the best start to their educational journey.

Rev O O'Doherty - Foundation Governor Appointing Body: Diocese of Shrewsbury

I was born in County Tipperary in Ireland and was ordained in 1972.  I began my priestly ministry in the Diocese of Shrewsbury in the same year, serving as assistant priest at Holy Cross, Birkenhead and later as asistant priest at St. Hugh of Lincoln, West Timperley.  My first appointment as parish priest was in May 1982 in the new parish of St. Margaret Ward, Sale where I served for 10 years.  In 1992, I was apointed parish priest of St. Mary's, Dukinfield.  My ministry is strongly focussed on nurturing and strengthening the links betwen home, parish and school.  In September 2015, I was also entrusted with pastoral responsibility of St. Paul's, Hyde.  As the two parishes come together, the opportunity for collaboration and cooperation between the communities will surely enrich and enliven all.
