Year 6 Boys Football Tournament

The Year 6 boys took part in the Hyde Schools 6 a-side football tournament on Wednesday 15th October. The boys began with a game against a solid St George’s team. The boys played really well as a team and managed to win 3-0 to get off to a great start.

Their next game was against Pinfold who were a strong and very attack minded team. We defended really well and stayed in the game thanks to some wonderful saves from Adam. The boys finished strong and scored 3 late goals from Liam, Charlie and Adam (after coming out of net).

The third game was against a well organised Leigh St team. This was an enthralling, end to end game that did not deserve the 0-0 result but a point was a fair reflection for both teams.

Then our final game was against Gee Cross Holy Trinity. The boys started very quickly and took an early lead which we held until the dying minutes of the game. Even though our defence was extremely well organised by the St. Paul’s player of the tournament, Harry, Gee Cross managed to break through to equalise. Then with the last kick of the game, Gee Cross popped up with a glancing header to make it 2-1.

We unfortunately missed out of the semi-final on goal difference but the boys played excellently and I’m sure we will do even better when we play the tournament again at the end of the season.
