Year 2 2019 - 2020
Welcome to another exciting year in Year Two at St Paul's.
I hope you had an enjoyable and restful summer and are looking forward to the year ahead. Below you will find some key details about our class' routines, and some regular updates on our learning. Should you have any questions, no matter how big or small, I am always available at the start or end of each school day.
Miss Boyd is the class teacher and Mrs Robinson is our teaching assistant.
Reading plays a vital role in developing your child’s education. We will continue with daily Guided Reading lessons in school, but your support at home is invaluable. Your child will be sent home with a reading book and reading record. Please try to read every night; every second counts! Please remind your children to put their finished books in the finished box, so we can change the books as frequently as possible.
Our PE sessions are on a Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child has a fully labelled kit in school all week, should any changes in the timetable occur.
Children will receive homework once a week, which will alternate between Maths and English. Homework will be sent home on a Friday, which needs to be returned by the following Wednesday. Children will also receive a set of 10 spellings on a Friday, which will be tested the following Friday.
This term, our topic is 'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...'. We are looking forward to learning all about the geographical features of the seaside, materials that can be found on the beach, how seasides have changed over the years, landscape paintings in art and many more exciting learning opportunities.
I am really looking forward to getting to know your children and helping them grow and learn this year. Thank you for all of your support.
