Year 2 2019 - 2020

Miss Boyd

Welcome Year 2's class page.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings.

Below you will find some key details about our class' routines, and some regular updates on our learning. Should you have any questions, no matter how big or small, I am always available at the start or end of each school day.

Miss Boyd is the class teacher and Mrs Robinson is our teaching assistant. Mrs Wood will be supporting our learning on a Monday and Tuesday.

Reading Books

Reading plays a vital role in developing your child’s education. We will continue with daily Guided Reading lessons in school, but your support at home is invaluable. Your child will be sent home with a reading book and reading record. Please try to read every night; every second counts! Please remind your children to put their finished books in the finished box, so we can change the books as frequently as possible.

Our PE sessions are on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has a fully labelled kit in school all week, should any changes in the timetable occur. Earrings must be removed on PE days. If your child has recentlly had their ears pierced, they shoud come to school with their ears taped on PE days.

Homework in Year 2 has recently changed. Please see the letter sent out with homework on Friday 10th January. Each half term, children willl receive a 'Homework Menu' where they can choose which activities to complete. These activties are not compulsory, however we encourage children to complete one task a week. Children will still receive a set of 10 spellings on a Friday, which will be tested the following Friday.

This term, our topic is 'On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!'. We will be exploring how to be the heathiest and fittest we possibly can! We will discover what a healthy diet consists of, how exercise affects the body and how important good hygiene is. We will also be looking at the Olympics and using our geographical skillls to locate continents and countries where the Olympics have taken place.

As always, please feel free to speak to me at the start or end of the school day no matter what it concerns. Many thanks for your continued support.
