Year 1 2019 - 2020
WELCOME TO ANOTHER FUN YEAR IN YEAR ONE AT ST PAUL'S.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and are looking forward to the year ahead. Below you will find some key details about our class' routines, and some regular updates on our learning. Should you have any questions, no matter how big or small, I am always available at the start or end of each school day.
Mrs McGowan is the class teacher, Ms Quinn is our teaching assistant and our lunch time organiser is Mrs Prince. We also have a student teacher, Miss Khatun, until February.
Daily reading is very important in year 1. Please try to read at home as much as possible and ensure reading books and reading records are in school every day. Ms Quinn will change the children’s reading books as frequently as possible to help your child to develop their reading. The children will also have library books to take home too. These will be exchanged each Thursday.
Our PE sessions are on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has a fully labelled kit in school all week, should any changes in the timetable occur.
Children will receive a homework menu at the start of each half term. This provides a variety of activities you could complete together throughout the term. The work can be completed in homework books if appropriate and these should be returned to school each Wednesday for marking. Any more creative homework choices can be brought in at any time to be shared with classmates.
The topics for this term are:
Families and Celebrations
More detailed information about our learning can be found at:
End of the day
If your child is to attend the after school club or be collected by another parent or family member please advise us of which days this is to take place.
In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, either in the mornings for a quick chat or the afternoon for a more lengthy discussion.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to continuing to enjoy work and play in Year 1.
